L'Arbossar is the north face: steep terraces of fractured llicorella above Torroja, old Carinyena in shadow where Dits del Terra takes the sun — the pair Huber uses to read one grape against one hill. First made in 2003, when the project moved into its tiny cellar in the village, it is the austere, vertical wine of the range: crushed rock and iodine over black cherry, firm tannin refined by whole-cluster infusion. In torrid, dry 2023 the house harvested earlier than ever and the wines emerged paler than ever — Carinyena holding its acidity while the region held its breath.
Cellaring perspective
North-facing austerity is insurance in hot vintages, and this is the wine of the pair built for the longer wait: its importer's standing description — a wine that demands time and rewards patience — was written for normal years and applies doubly here. Five years before the first cork; comfortable through the decade that follows.
