Why this bottle matters
Cuvée Frédéric Emile comes from a single plot that straddles two Grand Crus, Geisberg and Osterberg, on the slope above the winery at Ribeauvillé — and the label does not say so. The Alsace Grand Cru appellation applies to a single named site, so a wine blended from two cannot use it; rather than split the plot in order to qualify, Trimbach keeps the blend and lets the cuvée stand on its own name. Trimbach has been in Alsace since 1626 and is now in its thirteenth generation; the cuvée is named for the Frédéric-Émile who built the house's reputation abroad in the nineteenth century, and was first made in the 1960s as a second dry Riesling alongside Clos Sainte Hune.
Cellaring perspective
Muschelkalk — shell limestone — under vines averaging around forty-five years. Fermented long and cool on native yeasts with no malolactic, and bottled bone dry, under five grams of residual sugar. The house holds every vintage back for several years before release, so a bottle arrives already partway into its life rather than at the beginning of it. In magnum, that arithmetic slows again. Rieslings made this way are documented as keeping for two decades and more.
About this bottle
Is this Trimbach 2015 authentic and how is its provenance documented?
This Trimbach, Frédéric Emile Riesling 2015 1.5L is held in professional bonded storage with documented custody. Its provenance is recorded from acquisition, the bottle remaining in professional custody, and condition is noted. The Empty Drops is a private cellar, not a reseller, and never invents data about a bottle.
How is the bottle stored and shipped?
The bottle is kept in temperature-controlled bonded storage and is not moved unless shipping is requested. It is recorded privately, not offered publicly; it can be released through CruTrade on request.
What does the fill level and condition tell you about this bottle?
Condition is read from the fill level (ullage), capsule and label rather than taken on faith. A bottle that has stayed in professional custody since acquisition avoids the usual weak points — heat, movement and broken records.
