Vigna Rionda is the most storied cru in Serralunga d'Alba — the vineyard behind Bruno Giacosa's legendary Collina Rionda Barolos — and Oddero's Riserva is drawn from old vines within it, made only in exceptional years and released after roughly a decade of ageing. This is the estate's most serious wine, produced in tiny quantity; in magnum, rarer still.

In magnum the wine ages more slowly and more evenly than in bottle, which for a Barolo of this structure means a longer life and a later peak. A format for the cellar rather than the table, and one that will outlast most of what sits beside it.
