Les Aubues is a connoisseur's address: a small enclave inside the better-known Les Enseignères, just below the road that runs along the foot of the grands crus, on the border with Chassagne. Jasper Morris calls the situation brilliant — and the wine very Puligny despite it: tense, steely, mineral. The 2023, from the domaine's first ECOCERT-certified vintage, drew 94 points from Decanter and 92-95 from Morris — a village Puligny scored like a premier cru.
Cellaring perspective
Bachelet villages spend nearly two years in barrel before release, which does the early waiting for you; Morris's window for the previous vintage ran from its fourth year to its tenth. Expect the steel of Aubues to want three or four years, then a comfortable decade of tension held in balance.
