Why this bottle matters

Jacquesson stopped trying to make the same wine twice. Since Cuvée 728 the house has numbered each blend in sequence instead of chasing a constant style, so every release is its own year rather than a reproduction of the last — 743 is the sixteenth, built on the 2015 harvest from Aÿ, Dizy, Hautvillers and Champillon with Avize and Oiry, lifted by 21% reserve wine drawn from cuvées 735 to 742. The Dégorgement Tardif is that same blend held back under cork for roughly twice the usual time: eighty-nine months on lees, disgorged in March 2024 with effectively no dosage.

Cellaring perspective

19,900 bottles and 1,009 magnums were made. Long lees ageing under cork tends to preserve tension rather than soften it, and the larger format slows everything again; this is a bottle to open at a table, not to audit. The series carries no declared vintages, each number being its own base year, and among recent late disgorgements the 738 — built on 2010 — has drawn the strongest critical notice.

About this bottle

This Jacquesson, Cuvée n° 743, Dégorgement Tardif NV 1.5L is held in professional bonded storage with documented custody. Its provenance is recorded from acquisition, the bottle remaining in professional custody, and condition is noted. How is the bottle stored and shipped?

The bottle is kept in temperature-controlled bonded storage and is not moved unless shipping is requested. It is recorded privately, not offered publicly; it can be released through CruTrade on request.

What does the fill level and condition tell you about this bottle?

Condition is read from the fill level (ullage), capsule and label rather than taken on faith. A bottle that has stayed in professional custody since acquisition avoids the usual weak points — heat, movement and broken records.
