Why this bottle matters
In the cellars at Ludes there is a solera that has been drawn from and topped up without interruption since 1982 — more than forty harvests running into one another, kept by three generations of the same family. Invitation is the cuvée that carries it: three grape varieties from Ludes, Villedommange and Vavray-le-Grand, with a quarter to two-fifths of the blend coming from that reserve depending on the year. Georges Huré founded the house in 1960; the name Huré Frères dates from 1971, when he handed it to his three sons.
Cellaring perspective
Around ten hectares of Premier Cru worked as some forty separate parcels, each vinified apart, with spontaneous fermentations and little or no malolactic. The range is built on low dosage throughout, and Invitation carries the house's reserve-wine logic in its most approachable form. Thirty to thirty-six months on lees before disgorgement. A blend built on a four-decade solera is by construction less about one harvest than about continuity, which is a different thing to ask of a bottle and a good reason to have one.
About this bottle
Is this Huré Frères authentic and how is its provenance documented?
This Huré Frères, Invitation Brut 0.75L is held in professional bonded storage with documented custody. Its provenance is recorded from acquisition, the bottle remaining in professional custody, and condition is noted. The Empty Drops is a private cellar, not a reseller, and never invents data about a bottle.
How is the bottle stored and shipped?
The bottle is kept in temperature-controlled bonded storage and is not moved unless shipping is requested. It is recorded privately, not offered publicly; it can be released through CruTrade on request.
What does the fill level and condition tell you about this bottle?
Condition is read from the fill level (ullage), capsule and label rather than taken on faith. A bottle that has stayed in professional custody since acquisition avoids the usual weak points — heat, movement and broken records.
