Why this bottle matters
Coteaux Bourguignons is the broadest appellation in Burgundy, created in 2011 to replace Bourgogne Grand Ordinaire — the bottom of the hierarchy. Anne Gros bottles one under the name of her daughter Julie, from the same cellar in Vosne-Romanée that produces Richebourg and Clos de Vougeot. The family has farmed the village since the 1830s and Anne, the sixth generation, took over three hectares from her father in 1988.
