Poggio di Sotto sits on the warm south-eastern slope of Montalcino, above Castelnuovo dell'Abate, and has spent its life arguing for restraint in a region that spent decades chasing power. The Riserva is made only in years the house judges worthy, aged long in large Slavonian oak, and released late. It belongs to the traditionalist line of Montalcino — Sangiovese as perfume and structure, not extract.
